Girl Scouts Announce Free Summer Day Camp for Taos and the Enchanted Circle
All girls currently in K-5th grade invited to a free week of day camp in Angel Fire
Angel Fire, New Mexico (April 1, 2024)– Girls in Taos and the Enchanted Circle are in for an exciting and enriching summer as Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails announces the launch of a free summer day camp program, exclusively for girls currently in kindergarten through 5th grade. This innovative initiative aims to empower young girls, foster leadership skills, and provide memorable experiences in a fun-filled environment.
The summer day camp, hosted by Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Outdoor Recreation’s Outdoor Equity Grant, will run four consecutive weeks in June at Camp Elliott Barker in Angel Fire. Families are eligible to receive one week of day camp per girl at no cost. Spaces are limited to 25 girls per week and transportation to and from Taos will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Campers are not required to be registered Girl Scouts.
Designed to cater to the interests and needs of girls who have completed at least one year of elementary school or the equivalent, the camp offers a diverse range of activities and adventures to engage participants throughout the summer.

"We are so excited to bring a free summer day camp to the Enchanted Circle,” said Rebecca Latham, CEO of Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails. "Our aim is to provide girls with a supportive and inclusive environment where they can learn, grow, and create lasting memories together. Through a blend of outdoor adventures, leadership development, and fun activities, we hope to inspire the next generation of confident and capable young women."
Registration for the summer day camp is now open, and interested families can sign up by visiting NMGirlScouts.org/BarkerDayCamp or contacting Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails at (505) 343-1040. Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.
This initiative underscores Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails' commitment to building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. By providing access to enriching experiences and fostering a sense of community, Girl Scouts strives to make a positive impact on the lives of young girls and prepare them for future success.
