Become a Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails! We are a volunteer-driven organization with over 3,000 men and women across New Mexico dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place!
Our volunteers provide the support, experience, skill building, mentorship, and outstanding example that change the lives of young women. No matter your interests, abilities, location, or time constraints – YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE and we’d love to have you join our team!
A great first step, if you would like to learn more about how you can help, is to fill out the interest from below. Once submitted, our staff will be in contact with you. There is a whole spectrum of ways you can volunteer your valuable time with us, and we can help you choose the best path for your lifestyle and skill set.
If you already know how you’d like to help us, you can start your Volunteer Application process right now! Please make sure you complete BOTH steps, as each cannot be processed without the other.
- Volunteer Application – just fill out this quick survey, helping us keep your contact information up to date and provide relevant and consistent information to you that fits your interests!
- Background Check Authorization – this is the FINAL STEP of the Volunteer Application and does not stand alone as a document. Online, however, its link is separate.
The safety and well-being of our girl members is a number one priority to us here at Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails. In order to truly build girls of courage, confidence, and character we need to be able to ensure this safety. Parents, guardians, and girls trust that Girl Scouts is a protected and positive environment, and we are committed to maintaining policies and procedures that uphold this standard.
A criminal background check is a simple strategy put in place to help us uphold this standard of safety, and is a best practice used by youth serving agencies throughout the country. All members who are or will be supervising, facilitating, driving, or being otherwise responsible for the well-being and safety of our girls are required to complete a background check every two (2) years.
Our background checks are run by Intellicorp, a company accredited by the NAPBS Background Screeners Credentialing Council (BSCC). Together we work hard to make sure that your personal information is safeguarded. Our background check process is now available online so that your information will never be in hardcopy form, and our staff will never see or have access to your full social security number. You can learn more about Intellicorp’s accreditation at www.intellicorp.net .
Once your application has been processed, you will receive a letter in the mail informing you of your status. If you would like to check on the status of your application, please call 505.343.1040 and ask to speak with our Intake Specialist.
